Western Decorating Inspiration
If you take a trip to Northern Nevada, evidence of a western heritage is all around and can be a great inspiration for home decorating. Old bits, spurs, saddles, woven blankets, Indian baskets, blue glass bottles and old photos are just a sampling of items to be found at local garage sales, flea markets and antique shops. Once acquired, these items can be incorporated into very stylish displays.
For a rugged outdoors look, an old coat rack with a combination of western memorabilia would make an interesting corner display. Some items that could be used are cowboy hats, Indian blankets, coiled ropes, an old horse bridle, cowboy boots and a Western saddle. To add even more interest and color, add a wall decal of running wild horses, a group of cowboys, a tree, a picket fence or maybe some ironwork motifs to help draw the eye to your display.
For more refined tastes set up a display of wash bowls and pitchers, heirloom china, old photos and antique bottles on a table. Wall decals are an easy and inexpensive way to add a Victorian look with borders or a bit of whimsy with a bird cage or a branch with birds. The possibilities are endless and limited only by your imagination.
