In our last post Three Steps to Define Your Decorating Style, we gave you some tips on how to figure out what your decorating style is like. We provided some exercises to go through and the result was to help you see that your style falls into one of four categories:

In this article, we will discuss what it means to have a Classic Style.
A classic never dies. With this style, you create a formal lifestyle that will most likely be “in style” forever. Traditional furniture, old world accessories and clean lines establish a look that wears very well over time and feels timeless. Think of your favorite Grace Kelly movie or take a visit to Tiffany & Co for your inspiration.
Decorate with:
Delicate furniture with tapered legs and clean lines.
Hang a grand chandelier!
Choose rich, dark woods for furnishings.
Use neutral, pale and soft colors on walls and upholstery.
Include metals, glass and marble in your decorating (like mirrors, a classic bust or interesting sculpture.)

I’m sure you’ve seen wall stickers at your local store in the home decorating aisle or crafting section. There are other companies, besides Modern Wall Graphics the Original Wall Decal Store, out there offering cute designs to accent and DIY decorate your home or kids rooms and you may have been excited to try them on your wall. But, I’m willing to guess that you were disappointed with the result, and not because of the design you chose or where you placed it, but, because a few days or weeks after you installed it, the sticker started to peel up and away from the wall. Even pressing it back down against the wall again didn’t help, right? This is probably because the wall decal you purchased was made of plastic.

I’m sure you’ve seen wall stickers at your local craft or home store. But, if you’ve tried them, you may have been disappointed with the fact that they peeled off the wall in no time. Plastic Doesn’t Lay Well
Stiff plastic is a poor quality of material to use for a decal because it cannot lie well on your wall surface and in turn cannot stick. Also the adhesive associated with decals of this kind leave a sticky residue behind on your surface when you want to remove it.
Paper is Tough to Remove
Paper based decals will lay better, but ultimately are harder to remove because they leave not only residue but also bits of paper behind. In addition, adhesive paper is only available in white, so every decal will have a white background. This will make the decal stand out from the wall looking like a sticker as opposed to having a professionally designed image that appears to be painted on, like a stencil.
