Finally, the last decorating style we will discuss in our series Three Steps to Define Your Decorating Style will be the Vintage style. Last time we discussed the Cozy decorating style and in this article we will discuss what it means to have a Vintage Style.
Being vintage in your decorating shows that you have a rich, layered style. Flea market find combined with antiques and diverse accessories will thrive together. Furnishings that are collectible (like Grandma’s teacups), look timeworn (like a Persian rug) or handmade really make this style sing.
If you are vintage, you’ll want to decorate with:
- Lots of rich wall art and accents everywhere, even on the furnishings
- Jewel tones combined with more muted washed out colors
- Furniture with shape and intricacy
- A mix of fabrics throughout the room and windows, ie.) tapestries, paisleys, and jacquards
- Embellished lamps and crystal chandeliers
- Botanicals, florals and folksy items
- A mix of antique and newer items that work together
Wall Slicks that go well with this style are: Paisley wall stickers, Rococo wall decals and our Bird Branch, Blossoms and Botanicals wall stickers.

Now we move on to an article addressing the Cozy Decorating style. This is another installment in our Three Steps to Define Your Decorating Style series. Last time we discussed the Modern decorating style and in this article we will discuss what it means to have a Cozy Style.
Being cozy in your decorating has a relaxed and inviting look. It’s warm, traditional and built for daily activities and visits from family and friends. You’ll find influences from English and early-American furniture designs popping up and even farmhouse, cottage and country can be a part of this style. Furnishings that are weathered and wear well keep this look very livable.
If you are cozy, you’ll want to decorate with:
- Solid textiles
- Solid furnishings that can stand up to lots of wear
- Plush upholstery, even slipcovers
- Sofas with squared or rolled arms
- Natural fabrics like wool or cotton for upholstery, pillows and drapes
- Simple stripes
- Muted and unfussy florals
- Warm wood tones that look weathered or distressed
Wall Slicks that go well with this style are: Stripes wall stickers, Sea Shells wall decals and our Bloom Florals wall stickers.

Being modern decorator is a fresh, fun and contemporary. The look is edgy, urban and colorful. The furnishings are kept simple and the eyes are drawn to bold accents and colors. Images to inspire you could be a downtown loft, a Modern Art museum and even architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
If you are modern, you’ll want to decorate with:
- Clean lined furniture with no embellishments on the legs.
- Strong blocks of color
- Geometric and abstract patterns (easy to layer and create with Wall Slicks)
- Boxy shaped sofas
- A mix of natural wood colors both light and dark
Wall Slicks that go well with this style are: Checkers wall stickers, Mechanix wall decals and our Zebra Stripes wall stickers.

And with over 40 colors to choose from, finding just the right bold color for your room will be a snap.
