It’s Super Bowl Sunday and before the game starts, I’m thinking of some “Super” decorating ideas to inspire you! Decorating does not have to be hard or take a lot of your time. Here’s a few quick ideas to get you started so you can create a look you’ve always wanted. And, the best part is, you don’t have to re-do the whole room from top to bottom to make a change. Pick a section (like the walls) or area (new rugs) and just get started.
Magazine Research
The best way to get ideas for your home decorating is to look in magazines. Pick your favorite decorating magazine and start keeping a file of looks, colors, patterns and textures you like. You may not see how it will all come together at first, but, collecting images of what you like will help you define your style.
Review and Find Commonality
Once you have your file folder of images you like, review them and see if you can find a common theme or pattern. Do you like, stripes? Is the color Blue what speaks to you? How about flowers? You’ll start to see what you’re drawn to and you can apply that to the area of your room you want to change (ie. Walls, floors, accents, paint, etc… )
DIY Decorating
Now that you’re ready to get down to some “super” DIY decorating, see if you have anything already around the house that you can either move from one room to another, or, even pull out of a closet or garage storage. For example, maybe you’ve decided that you want a room that has blue accents. Do you have a throw blanket you can drape over the sofa? If so, start there and then find a few accent pillows to match it and you can easily pull together a coordinated look.
Think about doing the change in stages so it does not seem too overwhelming. Maybe start with the accent pieces this weekend, and next weekend move to the walls. If painting seems like too much work, you can easily change the look of your room with wall decals. They look as if they’ve been painted on and add a professional touch to any DIY decorating project. Plus they remove just as easy as they install, if you want to change the look again down the road.

Wallpaper is a beautiful way to enhance any wall of your home, but, it is such a challenge to install and even less fun to remove! Plus, if you are renting an apartment or staying in a dorm room, wallpaper is just not an option. So, what’s a DIY decorator to do?
Try vinyl wall stickers. You can create hundreds of unique looks that give the feeling of wallpaper, without all the mess using Wall Slicks. Wall slicks come in over 40 colors and over 100 designs to create any look you want. Plus, if you don’t see exactly what you need, you can call about custom designs. We pride ourselves on the ability to offer customization to our clients so they can achieve the perfect look for their home of office.
Wall decals offer so much variety and creativity that there’s just no limit to the looks you can create as you layer patterns and colors. See how these Bamboo wall decals create interest to this wall with a few dark green stalks serving as a focal point and the other reeds blending in more with the background in a color that’s a little darker than the wall to create depth.

The Paisley wall decals in this photo create a lovely balance to the wall with a combination of light and dark neutral shades. Could you tell that this was created with wall decals and not wallpaper?

Leave us a comment below telling us how you would create the look of wallpaper with wall stickers. We love to hear your ideas!

Looking to add some zest and life into your space? Try using color and textures for some creative decorating. It’s a simple way to enhance your room that also won’t take up much of your time. Here’s 4 quick tips to make your room sing:
- Rule of Three
If you’re adding a new color into the room that is not currently a part of the design scheme, be sure to use it in three locations. For example, elegant wall stickers, throw pillows and a vase. Or, a rug, curtains and a carefully draped blanket.
- Create Balance
Find two colors you love and create harmony and balance with them by grouping different items that contain both of the colors. For example, if your accent pillow is patterned with plum and pale green, place it alongside a few other pillows that are a solid of your featured color. Choose different styles of fabric as well, silky smooth vs. nubby wool.
- Same Theme – Variable Size (or Color)
Here’s a fun tip that is modern, but still maintains a sense of uniformity. By keeping the same theme throughout the room, like stripes, you can add interest by either changing the width of the stripe or the color around the room. For example, if you cover all your chairs in a striped pattern, vary the pattern just slightly by allowing the stripes to have different widths, or colors. Looking for stripes on walls? Try stripes wall decals instead of painting.
- Trust Your Instincts
Sometimes you just know when it’s working. As you mix and match colors and textures in your room, you really just need to trust yourself. If it feels like it’s a hit, it probably is. Bottom line is that you are happy with the end result. So, add things, move them around, then stand back and take an objective look. If something needs to be removed, that’s OK too. If you’re unsure, leave it alone for a bit and go into another room. When you look again with fresh eyes, you’ll have your answer.

Looking for an easy way to decorate your apartment? Wall decals can be the answer! We know that DIY apartment decorating can have its own unique challenges. First, most apartments are usually on the small side, and secondly a lot of your creativity can be squelched by an unrelenting landlord.
Here’s where wonderful wall decals come in. So easy to apply - just peel and stick - and what’s even better (from your landlord’s perspective) is that they are easy to remove. With wall decals you can create just about any theme, look or mood in your apartment and not violate the landlord’s rules against any kind of permanent interior decorating.
Remember that even where space is limited, walls aren’t - there’s always plenty of wall space. When decorating both the living room and the bed room, choose a wall to be the focal point which makes the rest of the room seem wider and more open, and decorate that with your theme. Paint if you can, but if the landlord prohibits changing his white walls to anything else, never fear. The good news is that Wall Slicks wall stickers come in many different designs and in such a huge variety of colors that you’ll easily find exactly what you need to create the look you want.
The beauty of Wall Slicks wall decals is that they are thin and have a matte finish. The matte finish keeps them from looking like stickers. Instead, when applied they blend into the wall, and the design looks like it was painted on by a professional.
The thinness allows these wall decals to adhere to just about any surface. In small apartments bathrooms and kitchens are notorious for being the rooms that are dull and often dark. Spice up your kitchen and brighten up that bathroom with wall decals. Once you get started with wall decals your creativity will know no bounds, and you’ll have the classiest little apartment in the city.

Valentine’s Day is a time when romance can bloom and love can reign. Are you ready to create a mood for love in your home? It’s easy to create a fun and romantic look by following these simple DIY decorating tips.
The first thing to do is decide what images Valentine’s Day conjures up in your mind. Need some ideas? Try Hearts and Flowers, Wet and Wild, Sweet and Soft, Sugary and Fun - it’s all up to you. Pick a theme and a color scheme and get to work!
Decorate the Walls
Vinyl wall decals are easy to apply, and remove, so they can stay up just for Valentine’s Day, or stick around for a romantic touch through-out the rest of the year. Just about any wall sticker design can work because they come in an array of colors including shades of red, pink, lavender and even white. You can even “Say It” with wall stickers that also come in letters and words. Splash romantic words or an original love poem across the wall to let your sweetie know just what’s in your heart.
Remember the Kitchen
Remember the kitchen can be a romantic spot, too. In addition to a bouquet of flowers on the table, try sugar-cookie scented candles or tea lights as a runner down the middle with a little heart shaped confetti sprinkled there too. Add a special set of red dishes just for the two of you and romance has never been so delicious.
Don’t Forget the Bedroom
A sensual and romantic bedroom can be achieved inexpensively. Layer colored linens in white and shades of red on the bed. Pop the romantic color with throw pillows you make yourself with silk scarves. Glue beads and crystals you can purchase at any craft store to the edge of lamp shades and voila!
Even the Bathroom Can Use a Little Love!
Red towels and scented candles always bring to mind romance, so, add them to the bathroom easily. Plus, wall decals stick to just about any surface, so you can carry your decorating theme to the bathroom on the mirrors, waste pails, and even cabinets to keep your Valentines theme dazzling every room in the house.

Want to create a big impact on your kitchen decorating? Try wall decals. If you haven’t seen them before, vinyl wall stickers are the newest innovation in home decorating. What makes them so easy to use? All you do is peel and stick and you can achieve a very professionally decorated look that appears like a painted stencil, but is so much easier (and faster) to do.
Painted images have a matte look and are a seamless part of the wall. With vinyl wall stickers you can achieve that same look without the mess and trouble of paint. Most walls have an “orange peel” texture and wall decals easily apply over that giving the appearance of a painted decoration.
Try Flowers, Stripes, circles, or even Country/Cottage and High Style/French. With so many designs and over 40 colors to choose from, you can get the look you’ve always wanted for your DIY decorating kitchen project. Skip the paint and use wall stickers for a beautiful look you’ll be happy to entertain in.

So you want to go “green” in the nursery? Great idea! Decorating the baby nursery with items that are safe for them and ecologically friendly is good for their health and the environment. Here’s 5 tips to get you started:
- Organic Bedding
Start with organic bedding, blankets and quilts for the crib. Babies spend up to 70% of their early life sleeping and playing in the crib, so, make sure the mattress is also non-toxic. Once you’ve chosen the bedding color it is easy to select accents and the color theme for the rest of the nursery décor.
- Avoid Particle Board
Avoid any baby furniture created with particle board because it contains formaldehyde a volatile organic compound (VOC). In addition to the wood, be sure the paints or varnish used on the furniture is VOC free. The best way to avoid this would be to find nursery furniture made from sustainable and renewable sources such as bamboo.
- Natural Fiber Rug
Choose a natural fiber rug made from bamboo, hemp, cork, or wool and be sure they used environmentally sound dyes for the coloring.
- VOC Free Paint
Paint is one of the leading causes for indoor air pollution. Paints release low level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. New VOC free paints solve this problem and come in a variety of colors to match your nursery décor.
- Wall Decals
For a special touch to your nursery decorating, try Wall Slicks wall decals, a “green” certified product. The vinyl and adhesive in the wall stickers have no odor or volatile chemical content and come in over 40 colors and come in numerous designs and styles!

Do you want the look of wall stripes in your home, but don’t want to paint or apply wall paper? There is a solution! Vinyl wall stickers can give you the same look without the hassle of paint or the mess of wall paper. If you can peel and stick, you can apply wall decals. Just follow these simple steps and you can easily complete that DIY project and achieve that striped look you’ve always wanted:
- Decide on the Color
Depending on the color of your wall and the look you want to achieve, you may or may not have to paint the base wall to start. You can certainly apply your stripes to a white wall, or, consider a monochromatic look with tints or shades of one color such as a dark blue wall with light blue stripes. If your wall is already a color, you could also consider using white stripes.
- Determine the Width
Determine the width of the stripes you would like, keeping the proportion of the room in mind. Narrow stripes in a large room will get lost and wide stripes in a small room look out of proportion for the size of the space. Stripes Wall Decals come in 3 sizes: Pinstripes are .5” wide, Medium Stripes are 4” and Wide Stripes are 8”. For your convenience, all stripes are 8 feet tall, the height of a standard wall. Custom sizes are also available. Contact customer service for details.
- Keep them Straight
Decorating with stripes requires precision. You definitely want them to end up straight when you are finished. Use a laser level to ensure straight lines as you apply the spacer dots as placeholders to remember where you want to apply each stripe. Complete instructions are included in each package of Wall Slicks wall decals.
